Upside-Down est une série de cinq photovidéographies qui obéissent à une règle de base similaire : les photographies utilisées sont dans le bon sens au début de la vidéo et terminent tête-bêche. Mais l’important est ce qui se passe entre ces deux instants : les couleurs migrent du haut vers le bas et du bas vers le haut à des vitesses différentes en laissant des trainées sur leur passage. Celles du bas rencontrent celles du haut vers le milieu de l’écran et leurs embrassades constituent le climax de l’œuvre (qui dure une trentaine de secondes au milieu des vidéos). On passe du figuratif à l’abstrait pour revenir à une figuration avec déplacement. Les images se métamorphosent en tableaux abstraits en mouvement pour retrouver leur forme originale altérée. |
Upside-Down is a series of five photovideographic artworks that follow a similar basic rule: the photographs used are the right way around at the start of the video and end upside down. But the important thing is what happens between these two moments: the colors migrate from top to bottom and bottom to top at different speeds, leaving trails in their path. Those at the bottom meet those at the top towards the middle of the screen and their hugs constitute the climax of the work (which lasts about thirty seconds in the middle of the videos). We go from figurative to abstract to return to figuration with displacement. The images are transformed into moving abstract paintings to regain their original altered form. |

Upside-Down V is a still life that I composed using my pantry. Fruits and vegetables are arranged on a table with side lighting. As in the other videos of this series, the elements will be compressed in the center of the frame before being rejected on the wrong side.
